The RailANT -
the newest, lightest, very strong, very versatile way to
ride, enjoy, work, inspect, etc. ? the railroad tracks
of the world. It comes apart for easy transportation,
it's light, 112 pounds, it's strong, 2'' aluminized
steel, can carry heavy loads, wheels have been proven to
work in cold and hot climates, it's safe, the builder of
the RailANT takes out blind & handicapped people. It's 6
feet long to 10 feet long.
The RailANT is 26 inches high from the bottom
of the seats to the wooden ties, distance from the railroad
tie to the axle is 15 inches. Pictured is a RailANT that has
6 feet long center posts, we can make the center posts up to
10 feet long. Doing this gives you carrying capacity for
more people or any pay load you want behind the seats. Put a
simple plywood deck back here and you can carry your kids,
picnic basket, or anything you may have acquired on a
hunting trip. If you wanted to have different size center
poles on hand giving you the advantage for different uses.
The RailANT comes apart. Comes
together in four pieces with four holding pins. Connect the front
poles with pins, put on the seats, connect the back poles with pins,
connect the brake, connect the chains. It only takes minutes. Away
you go...
The brake is a regular bicycle disk brake. Works well with just the
peddles and with the motors people have installed.
Each center post is held together with pins. I put two holes in each
post, overkill. The frame being steel can be welded if you wanted
once you get it by your welder.
I carry the RailANT in four pieces on the rack on
top of my jeep. It's only 112 pounds when put together. The front
and back with their wheels weigh 47 pounds each. If a person wanted
you could take off the wheels from the front and rear frame to make
it even lighter and smaller.
The RailANT is made
from aluminized 2 inch steel piping, we than paint it a hammered
gray finish. If you thought you wanted another color, just sand
it down and paint it any color you want. We use the same stainless steel 3/4 inch axles we have been using since we
started making railbikes and railriders for railroad
enthusiastic . in 1980 You can easily put a motor on this unit
going onto the axle, or tire to tire. I cut extra key ways for
this purpose. We have seen people carry big payloads with
motors. This unit can carry heavy loads up to 300 lb. per wheel.
Of course we know of people who have far exceed our
recommendations. Gears We install one speed and this does a
great job, since most of the time railroad tracks are flat or
small inclines. You can customize your RailANT with different
sprockets, chains, pedals, or whatever you want, since the power
system is simple bike parts that can be obtained from your local
bike shop. Never put heavy loads resting on the flanges. The
wheels are made to take loads over the center of the running
surface while on railroad tracks, just like the RailANTs bigger
brother the railroad train. We have done "elephant test" on
these wheels and we never had a failure. Polyurethane is what
Disney World uses on their wheels on their roller coaster rides,
hundreds of times heavier and more stresses then we could ever
put on our wheels. Our wheels are doing service in cold and hot
climates. Prices subject to change to reflect the oil used that
goes in to make polyurethane wheels, or for shipping charges of
everything. Who knows what that will be these days. We have to
keep the oil people in style. Assemble and you are ready to go
in minutes. The ribbons of steel await you on your next
adventure.
The RailANT is very versatile, we weld 4 inch insert
posts that hold the uprights, you can make the uprights
any height you want, pictured is four feet high, put
upper cross members and there you have a double decker
Boxcar ANT. You put the decking you want, or enclose it.
Pictured is 10 feet long x 5 foot wide gives you 50 sq.
ft. on the bottom, & 50 on top. If you wanted you can
put a motor on it directly or pulled by a RailANT.

We can make the RailANT fit any size track. In the USA
we set the flange to flange at 55 1/2 inches. If you
wanted to add things it 's easy to do, top, back
carrying case, deck, cover the entire RailANT. The
strong steel frame makes it easy for you to weld
anything to it, or to drill the frame and add things.
The basic RailANT was made to take heavy abuse, to grow
longer, higher. For years people have done many things
to them, add more seats, add motors, tops to carry
things above the passengers, etc.
