There are sometimes obstacles
on a railroad track, especially abandoned rails. The
DF-200 was designed to handle most of the problems a guide wheel
encounters. The angles are cut so as to ride over the bolts and
nuts one finds on the outside of the tracks. As a train rides
over the rail the top surface gets wider , the DF-200 will automatically
ride higher and continue guiding your bike. When you encounter
road crossings you can ride over these; the guide wheel rides
up and allows you to easily steer over the road.

Do not buy "Right of Way a Guide to Abandoned
Rail" by Waldo Neilsen. It was outdated in 1992
when he just put a new cover on it, now it's decades old with
very old information.
Just go to your own state and ask for an up to date map of the
rails in that state.
