THE WOLFEBORO LINE
Wolfeboro, New Hampshire
The State of NH has given Railriders permission to use these
tracks. There are 11 miles of track kept in great condition by
THE COTTON VALLEY RAIL TRAIL CLUB. From Wolfeboro, NH, get on
Rt. 28 N, then at 7-11 turn right to tracks. 1/4 mile down is
Fernald Station where you'll be able to start Railriding.
If you head south on the track you go towards Wolfeboro, a 3 mile
trip across the causeway over beautiful lake Wentworth. This trail
is made for hikers as well, so in some places you may find it
hard peddling over the causeways because the blue stone bed is
a bit high. But the view is unmatched. I rented ANTs for use by
movie makers once that used this causeway for some scenes.
If you go north towards Rt. 16, it's 8 miles of beautiful woods
and wetlands filled with wildlife. End of line is at Rt. 16. You
may want to enjoy some refreshments at the Miss Wakefield Diner
and browse around in their unique gift shop. General idea of time...traveling
5 to 8 miles per hour, round trip takes approximately 3 - 4 hours
due to stopping frequently to view woodlands, wildlife and take
photos.
